Nkrumah should go back to Nkroful

Over the weekend, the chiefs and family members of Ghana’s first President made a case for the return of the body of Osagyefo. The body of Kwame Nkrumah was exhumed in 1992 with a promise to return the body some years later. This promise is yet to be fulfilled. For the three reasons under-listed, I believe Nkrumah should go back home.

1. A request from Kwame Nkrumah himself to be buried in his hometown when he dies. His daughter Samia Nkrumah was also in support of this idea.

2. Dr. Nkrumah was crowned theTufuhene of Nkroful and as a sub-chief of the area it is required by tradition to bury him in his hometown. Until this is done no other Tufuhene can be installed by the people of NkrofulThe return of the remains of Dr. Nkrumah to his homeland will help boost the tourism prospects of the Nkroful Township. The truth of the matter is, there is very little in Nkroful to show that a man as powerful as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah ever lived in Nkroful or was born there.

3. The return of Osagyefo’s remains will lead a great number of tourists to Nkroful for tourism purposes. It is about time the people of Nkroful started benefiting from their son.

I agree with you on all points especially the first.
I think Nkrumah's family should take it upon themselves to get this accomplished. A little state protocol backing will be enough though.
Where are his remains right now anyway?

His remains are at the mausoleum.

I agree with you on this one, not that we have disagreed before. I believe this would open up the place and relieve Accra. It is high time some places became known for what they are.

@ Nana|| Yea, I think they deserve the fame more than Accra does!

I agree that the remains shd go to Nkroful if it was his wish. Plus it could boost the ecomini there:)

neither here nor there!

1. a man's wish is a man's wish. i dn't have a problem with that.

2. i disagree with Nkrumah's own position as a chief, Tufuhene(that is an insult to my being human). i'm totally opposed to this inhuman and leadership system. so therefore this reason is stupid to me.

Again, there are already enough signs in Nkroful to show that Nkrumah hailed from there! i don't see why the development of the place should be based on the fact that Nkrumah hails from there. every part of the nation needs to have development!

3. Tourism could be developed through so many means! you don't need the corpse in Nkroful for this even though it's not a bad idea. as for this one it's neither here nor there!

for me the only important point is a man's own wish on this matter once it's possible to obey! and he needn't give any reason for this wish!

as for the Tufuhene thing. i've said it already, it sounds stupid to me!

Yes, Nkrumah should rest with his fathers!

Here's a post about what Nkrumah would do if he were still alive http://gamelmag.blogspot.com/2009/09/what-would-be-nkrumahs-aspiration-for.html
